2017: A Year of Optimism and Awesomeness for Print

I don’t think I can remember a December in which I have been so damn excited!

Things are looking up, people. They are looking up for me, they are looking up for my clients, they are looking up for my friends, and I really hope they are looking up for you, too. That is the great thing about optimism. It is an internally fired phenomenon.

Optimism is noun defined as hopefulness and confidence about the future or the successful outcome of something. Hmmm. Hopefulness and confidence. Admittedly these are both highly subjective terms, no?

The truth, is, while optimism is a choice, it is not one that I make in any kind of vacuum, and I don’t think you have to, either. There is concrete evidence out there to back up my claim that things are looking up for us in the graphic arts business in 2018.  check out this article

2017 was a pretty damn awesome year.  But for the purposes of this piece, I will only speak for myself or about things of which I have first -hand knowledge.

First, I can’t say enough about Print 17 and being in the Printerverse booth for most of it.  Well, I did, and you can read about it here

Secondly, I have seen quote a few of my clients making BIG investments in upgrades and new technology and equipment.  And there is just no other way to look at that then these companies have a high degree of confidence that things are moving in the right direction for them.

Finally, there is just a palpable level of excitement any time I meet someone or talk to someone in or about our industry.  Now, that does not mean that things are perfect.  I would be out of a job if people still did not see an opportunity to improve and decide to take steps to implement positive changes in sales, marketing and operations.

But for the most part, people are happy.  Every event I attended, people were smiling, feeling expansive, and seemed to be operating in an abundance mindset. Here’s me saying more about that. I did not see any of the old doom and gloom feeling of negativity that has been hounding us for the better part of the last damn decade.  Even Dr. Joe was more smiley than I’ve seen him in a long time.

So, chin up, young person. Grab those rose-colored glasses and join me in feeling alright!
