News – Media: Classified print ads get new life (Page 1 of 2).
Print’s not dead, but in the greatest paradox of all, it’s taking a website to show just that. Wegotads.co.za is the brand new classified ad portal on iol.co.za, the second biggest website in the country and the internet arm for Independent News and Media (the publishers of the Pretoria News and 16 of the country’s leading regional titles) – and therein lies the clue, bringing all those classified print sites together and giving them an internet presence.
But it’s more than just another website, says Independent’s executive director of operations, Nazeem Howa, who drove the project.
“What’s exciting for us about this project is that it’s all about content, just like our newspapers, both advertising and editorial,” he says
Wegotads.co.za allows visitors to the site to not only browse using possibly the most advanced search engine in the market but also to place ads across a wide platform of sites, both print and digital, as they choose.
It’s this particular issue that inspired Mahomed Doola.
