Company Predicts The Future By Scanning Current Websites

I wonder if it is making predictions past December 21, 2012? If so, could be a good sign the Mayans just ran out of space on their calendar vs the end of the world. Either way, I guess Im still going to stock up on water !

An online service company called Recorded Future states that by analyzing the content of millions of websites, they can provide users with intelligent insights into the future. Through scanning across 50,000 sources that includes a range of things such as Exchange Commission filings and Twitter comments, the company can speculate product launches, annual meetings and even forecast financial trends.

Recorded Future looks at 100,000 web pages an hour and believes that ‘the web has come to reflect the world’. The company was financed $8 million by investors that include Google’s venture arm and In-Q-Tel. The online service starts from $149 per month and its clients have included government agencies, banks and PR firms.
