Today’s environmentalists won’t accept half-hearted attempts to greenwash printing projects. To capture their business, you’ll need to innovate, not just push ideas that were old and insufficient by the late ‘80s.
Here are a few ideas for an eco-friendly update of the three Rs of printing.
Reduce—Without Reducing Your Business
You can help your customers cut down on waste without cutting down on their profits, or yours.
Consider offering an eco-friendly printing package that involves professional design review aimed at eliminating inefficient formatting. Offer a wider variety of sizing options for customers who want to save paper. Instead of sending hard copy proofs, use digital proofing for environmentally conscious customers. Suggest multi-purpose mailings.
If you’re able to source materials from local producers, you can offer a sustainable printing option in which everything used to create a particular project is produced within 300 miles of your location. Recommend die-cutting and embossing to reduce the use of ink and chemicals in your projects.
