Magic Mirror: The Future Of Your Bathroom Wall

This is one of the cooler things Ive seen lately.  It’s really amazing what a little augmented reality can do.  What is especially different here is how products can be integrated into this personal experience – so it’s not just some futuristic gimmick for choosing a tie.  The audio on the video is a bit low so turn it up before you watch.

Meet the Magic Mirror, the Times’ connected bathroom looking glass that does a whole lot more than show you your own reflection. Five icons on the bottom of the screen give you access to local weather information, an appointment calendar, health information, news feeds, and messaging functions. What makes it all work? Though it’s not specified, the Mirror looks like it utilizes the Philips Modea mirror TV paired with Microsoft’s Kinect sensor (which you can see on the left edge of the cabinet) and a microphone. Through voice and gesture commands you can flip through articles, book appointments, and even go shopping online.
