No, it’s not a remake of a Julia Roberts movie but a real life horror story, at least for the Post Office. Global Express Guaranteed Service is the new program I just received an email about. Apparently, you give the package to the USPS but they in turn give it to FEDEX who uses their planes, facilities and delivery service to get it there. Im sure there must be SOME benefit to going through a third party to use FEDEX, but as of now, this program basically anoints FEDEX as the USPS’s choice to deliver packages overseas!!! Isnt that like Burger King using McDonald’s fries because people like them better? Or Budget using Hertz’ cars because they are nicer?
I dont know, this one is blowing my mind. Maybe I am just jaded from all my years in advertising where the goal is to convince people YOUR products is better than the others, or partner with companies that add VALUE to your product but would NEVER do the exact same thing you do…. like Intel processors in computers. Hey, there is an idea for a new Post Office slogan – The USPS, Powered by FEDEX.
