World's First Chocolate Printer (video)

Chocolate goes bespoke.

It could be the biggest Valentine’s day hit ever. Scientists in the UK have come up with the ultimate in bespoke gift giving – 3D customized chocolate.

Using new digital technology, a ‘chocolate printer’ allows you to create your own designs with software and reproduce them physically in 3D form in chocolate.

The project, led by the University of Exeter’s Dr Liang Hao, is funded as part of the Research Council UK Cross-Research Council Programme – Digital Economy, and managed by the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). It’s still only a protoype, but chocolate retailers are already licking their lips.
