The hot topic this year is packaging and all of the things you can do with it. It’s the most common billboard available and it isn’t used to its full capability. Think about it, every package can carry a logo and a tagline, but what about an invitation to buy an adjacent product? What about packaging used for social cause messages? The options are unlimited, and they can be variable and customized.
Today packaging can be done in runs of billions, but it can also be a short run. One company that does a great job is The Boxmaker, which also operates Fantastapack for very short-run packaging based on pre-defined templates. In both cases, the team at The Boxmaker has done something to help us all! They have created a variety of samples, often in miniature, that show how the final product will look. They are like the samples that furniture sellers used to carry in the late 19th century to show cabinets and chairs – but this time it’s packaging!
Take a look at this video to see what a creative packaging sample program looks like. I think you’ll see what I mean!
If you have the coolest print sample among the work you have commissioned or produced, let me know. I am always looking! Reach out to me! @PatMcGrew on Twitter, on LinkedIn, or pcm@mcgrewgroup.com all land with me and I’ll be delighted to tell your story!
