Digital's dominance and an optimistic attitude are highlights of Fespa 2010

Fespa has reported that last week’s 2010 exhibition in Munich proved the wide-format sector is bouncing back from the recession and is embracing digital technology to do so.

“There was a very strong sense of energy and purpose among visitors”, said Fespa sales and marketing director Marcus Timson.

“Talking to exhibitors and visitors, it was clear that this was been an event where decision-makers came with specific objectives that would deliver measurable value to their business.”

Two thirds of visitors highlighted digital as their main focus this time, compared to half at Fespa 2007 in Berlin.

More than 21,000 individual visitors from 130 countries attended the event, with the majority attending for more than one day, taking total attendance to 32,504 visits.

Around 40% of total attendance came from Germany, a further 50% from the rest of Europe, 7.5% from Asia and the balance from the Americas and Africa.

Printers from Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland were among the top five visitor groups, with the UK, France, Spain, Poland and Czech Republic also delivering significant numbers of visitors.
